This classic hotel. Still has all of its charm from 1929. Perfect location. Rooms are small because this place was built to encourage people to mingle and socialize. They have great spaces for gathering with friends and family. The enclosed lounge area faces the ocean. Its family run. Our favorite part were all the flora that thrives here. Very clean hotel. None of the plants had dust on them. If the cleaning crew keep the plants dusted you can imagine how clean the rest of the place it. This hotel lovely. Oh an you can actually fit things in the fridge. The mircrowave and coffee bar is in the one of the lounge areas.

Amazing stay! A quaint and quiet hotel that’s right next to the beach. What more could you need! However, there’s 1 smallllll problem. Every SINGLE morning you WILL be woken up by “the motorcycle man”. This guy either works at the hotel or lives across the street and will start his explosively loud engine exactly at the strike of 5:30 AM each morning and then proceed to let the engine idle for 20 minutes before leaving. However, I will say that because we were awoken by the rumbling of steel and explosive gasoline powered pistons we did get the see the sunrise over the ocean from our window. Other than that, the room was clean, the staff are really nice, and the walk to the beach is so quick! Oh also if you’re on the second floor prepare for it to be hotter than hell on earth (but that’s part of the experience)

The Mayfair Hotel is one of those rare finds that instantly makes you feel like you’ve stepped back into a simpler, cozier time. It’s quaint, nostalgic, and full of character — the kind of place that reminds you of childhood summers and ocean breezes. The location truly couldn’t be better, sitting right across from the beach with sweeping views of the Atlantic and the soothing sound of waves as your backdrop. Inside, it’s warm and inviting, with that old-fashioned charm that’s hard to come by these days. Everything feels cared for and thoughtfully maintained — from the vintage touches in the rooms to the friendly, welcoming staff who genuinely make you feel at home.

We'd been hoping for the best when Hurricane Erin tracked up the East Coast, and waited as long as possible to cancel our reservation, hoping it wouldn't come to that. Unfortunately for us, Belmar closed all the beaches due to coastal flooding and riptide warnings at the very last minute—of course, right after our Free Cancellation period had ended. To cancel at that point meant, according to Booking.com, we were on the hook to pay Mayfair Hotel a cancellation fee equaling one night. However, Ken, the General Manager, called me directly and after talking things over, agreed to waive our fee as a one-time courtesy. Ken did not need to do that—not just based on Booking.com policies which protected his hotel, but also based on the fact that I even offered to let him keep the fee if I could apply it to a future stay. Ken's kindness was well-noted and very much appreciated. I've dealt with a lot of local hotels, some of whom don't even have the courtesy to get back to you in these sorts of situations. What a refreshing exception. Based on Ken's professionalism alone, we plan to definitely book a future stay (as soon as the weather permits). In the meantime, we gladly recommend the Mayfair Hotel to family and friends.

I have stayed at “The Mayfair” as the locals call it many times for years now. It’s an outstanding hotel and a very reasonably priced hotel especially by Jersey Shore standards. You know a place is good when it’s been in business for nearly a century. It opened in 1929 and it’s a favorite among the locals. Honestly, you can’t go wrong staying there. I have traveled some and the ocean view is competitive. I know the South Pacific is famous but the ocean views from this hotel are unbelievable. Generally speaking, you can see the ocean from the room. The neighborhood is very good looking and is extremely safe. The Belmar Police Station is literally across the street. The rooms are very comfortable and do the job very well. The staff is always good, always professional and doesn’t even turn over. They stay for years. Simply put, ownership/management are good people. The hotel is located near several very successful restaurants and bars. I should mention that it’s across the street from the ocean and even has an outdoor pool if that’s what you prefer. It’s no accident that “The Mayfair” has been open nearly a century and people routinely come back and love it. In conclusion, it’s a safe choice and you won’t be disappointed.

You get what you pay for. I got a budget friendly room to save some cash, and it did the job. Bed, mini fridge, toilet, sink, and a bathtub (in the corner of the room- weird) and an AC unit. It was outdated but for the price we paid, it was good. Rooms were clean, so to me that is the biggest factor. Front desk staff was nice.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for an extended weekend and loved it so much! The room and bathroom were very clean and it had a beautiful view of the ocean! Everything about this hotel was quaint and sweet! The staff was extremely friendly and made us feel right at home, especially Theresa! While there isn’t a specific parking lot for the hotel there is free parking along the street with no worries! And everything from food, drinks and the beach are all within walking distance!! It gives the most wonderful simple, relaxing, nostalgic beach vacation vibes!

Very clean & comfortable. Great location & good value. I've stayed here quite a few times. Only drawback is there's no elevator, cause my husband walks with a cane, but we always get a 2nd floor room. So it's not too bad. Highly recommended!

Got there and was greeted and helped upstairs with my heavy bags. Room was cleaned daily and hotel was clean all the time. Not your normal hotel, it had the perfect jersey shore feel that I remembered from when I was younger. Definitely had a great view from my room and close to convenience stores and food. Right across from the beach and a Jersey Mike's for a quick beach day lunch.
